Scripture of the day: "And He called a child to Himself and set him before them, and said, 'Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever receives one such child in My name receives Me; but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea. Woe to the world because of its stumbling blocks! For it is inevitable that stumbling blocks come; but woe to that man through whom the stumbling block comes!'" Matthew 18:2-7
Thought of the day: Jesus set a child before the disciples. He explained that they needed to become like children. And He explained that "whoever receives one such child in My name receives Me". Then He harshly warned about causing one of the little ones who believe in Him to stumble.
Challenge of the day: Did you notice that He spoke of receiving one child in His name? Our loving treatment of children should be in the name of Jesus. We should tell children that we love them because of Him. And did you notice that He described the little ones as those who believe in Him? It is possible for young children to believe in Jesus. I was ten years old when I believed ... and my children were much younger when they did. Don't cause young children to stumble by withholding the Gospel from them. Invite them to believe in Jesus when they are young. And then teach them the Word. Don't cause them to stumble by withholding the Word from them.
