December 12
Scripture of the day: "Then those who feared the Lord spoke to one another, and the Lord gave attention and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the Lord and who esteem His name." Malachi 3:16
Thought of the day: The Lord strongly criticized the Israelites for doubting His love, for dishonoring His name, for questioning His justice, for robbing Him, and for measuring His approval on the basis of human profit. God rebuked them. They listened ... and they took His words seriously. The Lord listened as their words changed from doubt to trust. They feared the Lord and esteemed His name. They repented. And a book of remembrance was written for them.
Challenge of the day: Have any of the last several eBreads about Malachi seemed to have been directed specifically toward you? Have you felt the Spirit convicting you through Malachi? If He has spoken to you, will you take His conviction seriously? What has He said to you? What will you do in response? "For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does." James 1:23-25. Don't forget what He has said. Act on it ... be a doer of the Word and not just a hearer of the Word. If you have been convicted, repent. Fear the Lord and esteem His name. If a book of remembrance were written today, would your name be in it?
