Scripture of the day: "They were on the road going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was walking on ahead of them; and they were amazed, and those who followed were fearful. And again He took the twelve aside and began to tell them what was going to happen to Him, saying, 'Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered to the chief priests and the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death and will hand Him over to the Gentiles And they will mock Him and spit upon Him, and scourge Him, and kill Him, and three days later He will rise again.'" Mark 10:32-33
Thought of the day: Jesus was a prophet. He was 100% accurate in His predictions. He predicted His own death. He predicted that He would be delivered up to the chief priests and scribes who would condemn Him to death. And He predicted that they would deliver Him over to the Gentiles ... mock Him ... spit on Him ... scourge (whip) Him ... kill Him ... and that three days later He would rise again.
Challenge of the day: Jesus predicted that He would be cruelly and shamefully treated. That must have been difficult for His men to hear. Think about His prediction that He would be spit upon. I saw a demoniac, in the middle of an exorcism, lunge forward and spit on a cross. The demoniac's spittle ran down over the cross ... and down over the rendition of the body of Jesus on that cross. Does that nauseate you? I hope so! But let me ask you ... were you nauseated when you read the words of Jesus in today's Scripture? Don't ever let yourself become desensitized to how cruelly and shamefully Jesus was treated. "For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself..." Hebrews 12:3.
